Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is looking for dynamic role models to hire for our four summer sleep away camps! Located in Virginia and Maryland, each offers unique programming for campers ranging in age from 5 to 17 in ½ week to two week sessions. Campers explore their interests in many diverse program options, such as STEM, crafts, leadership, outdoor skills, and sports on land and in the water. Please view brief descriptions of each of our sleep away camps below. All camps hire General Counselors, lifeguards and kitchen staff. Some have needs (as noted below) for experienced program staff in specialized areas.
Pay Rates start at $275 per week and include room and board for summer season.

• Aquatics Manager: 21+, training provided
• Lifeguard/ Watercraft Specialists: 18+, training provided
• Nature/STEM/ Environmental Education Program Specialist: 18+
• Support Director/ Business operations: 21+, current driver's license.
• Camp Nurse/ Health Manager: 21+, current RN or EMT preferred, current driver's license.
• General Counselors: 18+
• Kitchen Assistants: 18+
About Our Camps!
Camp Coles Trip in Stafford, Virginia, is on the shores of the Aquia Creek and spans 229 wooded acres. The camp features lodges, glen shelters, platform tents, covered wagons and a primitive unit. Beach access allows this camp to offer water sports like kayaking, canoeing, sailing, paddle boarding, and windsurfing. One and two-week session are offered to girls completing grades 5-11. **Special need for staff experienced in water sports including sailing, windsurfing, and paddle boards.
Camp May Flather, in Mount Solon, Virginia, sits on 50 beautifully wooded acres in the George Washington National Forest. The camp features lodges, platform tent and glen shelter units, a large open green and hiking trails into the National Forest. High adventure activities include hiking, backpacking, low ropes, rock climbing, caving, primitive camping and canoeing. It has an archery range, challenge course, and climbing tower. One, two and three-week programs are offered for girls completing grades 4-11. **Special need for staff experienced in climbing.
Camp Potomac Woods, located along the Potomac River in Leesburg, Virginia, is a 101 acre wonderland of varied terrain for campers completing Kindergarten through 11th grades in ½ and full-week programs. Stay in one of nine glen shelter units, overnight in the hammocks, or go tenting. You’ll find an archery range, playing fields, sand volleyball court, swimming pool, hiking trails, river walk, fishing dock, and eco-lab for all of your nature needs. Explore your creative side through arts & crafts, dance and drama too.
Camp Winona in Hughesville, Maryland, offers girls a variety of ways to experience the outdoors through hiking trails, a pond, creek, swimming pool, as well as archery range, and hammock village. The camp covers 178 beautiful acres featuring lodges, glen shelter units and open fields. Programs include hiking, games, canoeing, archery, science exploration, nature, and swimming in half and full-week session for campers completing grades K-11.
