Engineer - Chemist (New Graduate)

Develop new products, improve existing products, and support customer technical service and production operations. Develop new test methods or procedures, and modify current test methods or procedures if needed.
 
Job Responsibilities  
 
Apply lab procedures and good chemical hygiene while being able to detect potential problems in developments of new products.
 
Plan and design experiments; execute and report test data on assigned tasks to supervisor.
 
Attend industrial technical meetings, and positively participate for test method developments or current test procedure modifications.
 
Record, compile and present activities as results in the required format.
 
Manage and execute, in a semi-autonomous way, limited scope projects (evaluation, management, formulation, tests, analysis and interpretation, report and conclusion).
 
Detect potential problems and asks for assistance and direction from supervisor and/or group leader.
 
Participate in the execution of large-scale projects.
 
Capable of being a specialist within a given technology discipline in the department.
 
Apply assigned test methods in accordance with established quality procedures.
 
Pay attention to detail and housekeeping responsibilities to maintain a safe and organized working environment.
 
Prepare oral and written reports.
 
Perform duties as required for research projects.

Fulfills EMS Policy and process requirements as documented in site procedures and instructions and, in particular, is accountable for pollution prevention, waste recycling, continuous improvement and applicable environmental laws related to his/her job.
 
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements
The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment. Requires proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
 
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s (B.S.) degree in a four-year College or University in Chemistry/material science/engineering or the equivalent plus experience in an appropriate laboratory environment or related experience or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
 
Licensing or other Special Requirements
French and English language proficiency in Canada is a plus.
