Electrical Engineer - Test Operations at KOHLER Power

Responsible for the implementation and improvement of new and existing electrical testing equipment and processes for generator sets and generator systems. Supports capital project needs tied to the generator testing areas, work to improve the testing process, and support cost reduction initiatives in the area. Also responsible for the data acquisition and reporting of certified test reports required per customer request and support witness test operations.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work with IT to improve and automate data collection of test data.
  • Work with outside resources to design and develop genset test equipment.
  • In conjunction with design engineering, specify testing requirements and create supporting testing procedures.
  • Lead and participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) teams on product developments.
  • Investigate and recommend manufacturing test equipment including data acquisition systems and custom programs to support genset testing.
  • Determine best practices across all divisions and create standard testing practices and procedures globally.
  • Champion continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts within the final assembly testing areas.
  • Create and maintain programs and databases used to program genset controllers and engine ECUs.
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting support the production test associates.
  • Occasional travel to international facilities to coordinate similar efforts as needed. 

Skills/Requirements

  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with control systems, computer programming, and electronic system troubleshooting is required.
  • Additional experience in mechanical systems diagnostics and troubleshooting is a plus.
