Summer Internships- Electrical/Computer Engineer (Civil Space)

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades.

SDL’s internship program provides an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to get involved with state-of-the art technologies in space-, airborne-, and ground-based systems. With the support of engineers and mentors, interns are able to work on professional-level assignments that complement their academic studies. The program also includes training workshops, networking opportunities, and a variety of summer events and activities.

The Civil Space (CVS) Division is looking for several exceptional student electrical/computer/optical engineers for a summer internship. CVS works with organizations such as NASA and NOAA. Interns will be paid a competitive monthly stipend and will be tasked with varying duties based on current projects, needed support, and the development phase. Work could include developing, testing, and integrating of software systems for small satellites, sensor systems, and/or aerospace platforms, as well as helping to develop small satellite flight and ground support software.

Requirements
·Experience or understanding of at least one of the following areas: digital electronics, power systems, digital signal processing, embedded software, basic RF systems, FPGA, optics and/or optical-design software
·Experience with team collaborative tools
·Able to work hands on assembling and testing hardware
·Work well independently with minimum supervision
·Able to work closely in a team with students and professionals 
·Strong initiative and able to see the job through
·Good communication skills, both written and verbal
·Must be a U.S. Citizen

Education
EE, CE
Junior, senior, or graduate student
3.0 GPA minimum are required. 

Intern Hiring Periods
SDL summer internship opportunities are very competitive. To facilitate the selection process, we implement two hiring periods:
 
Intern Hiring Period I:   Oct 1, 2018 – Dec 15, 2018
Intern Hiring Period II:  Dec 16, 2018 – Jan 31, 2019
 
Interviews can occur any time within each hiring period, prior to the period closing date, so we encourage you to complete and submit your application as early as possible.
