Summer Internships- Mechanical Engineer (Civil Space)

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL)has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades.

SDL’s internship program provides an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to get involved with state-of-the art technologies in space-, airborne-, and ground-based systems. With the support of engineers and mentors, interns are able to work on professional-level assignments that complement their academic studies. The program also includes training workshops, networking opportunities, and a variety of summer events and activities.

The Civil Space (CVS) division is looking for a few exceptional student mechanical engineers for a summer internship.

CVS works with organizations such as NASA and NOAA. Interns will be paid a competitive monthly stipend and will be tasked with varying duties based on current projects, needed support, and the development phase. Work could include developing, testing, and integrating of software systems for small satellites, sensor systems, and/or aerospace platforms, as well as helping to develop small satellite flight and ground support software.

Requirements
•Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering Program
•Understanding of mechanical structures, thermodynamics, statics, and dynamics
•Experience using solid model software such as SolidEdge or SolidWorks
•Able to work hands-on assembling and testing hardware
•Able to work effectively both independently and as a team member with minimum supervision
•Able to see the job through
•Good communication skills, both written and verbal

SDL summer internship opportunities are very competitive. To facilitate the selection process, we implement two hiring periods:
Intern Hiring Period I:   Oct 1, 2018 – Dec 15, 2018
Intern Hiring Period II:  Dec 16, 2018 – Jan 31, 2019

Interviews can occur any time within each hiring period, prior to the period closing date, so we encourage you to complete and submit your application as early as possible.
