Position Summary:
The Propeller Engineering team within Drives and Propulsion Engineering Department at Mercury Marine is seeking a Propeller Design Engineer to design and develop propellers for Mercury Outboards, Mercruiser Sterndrive engines, and Mercury high-speed diesel marine engines. The candidate would be responsible for propeller design and development, updating design methodology and creating design tools.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop propeller geometry
- Acquire prototype hardware
- Develop test procedures to evaluate propeller performance/durability
- Evaluate propeller performance/durability
- Create technical reports of design and test results
- Develop design standards to guide future project work
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum B.S Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering
- 3 years engineering experience working with propeller design or application
- A strong working knowledge of aerodynamic or hydrodynamic theory
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture
- 5+ years engineering experience working with propeller design or application
- Experience with propeller modelling tools using CFD or FEA
