Internship - Mechanical Engineer

DEKA offers Internships for full time students* (must be at least 18 years of age). Internships last a minimum of 10 weeks, 12 preferred, and summer internships are to begin no later than June 17, 2019.
The student will have exposure to several different aspects of new product development and short run manufacturing. Will help in the development of new assembly process, including fixture development, operating procedure drafting and process improvement. The student will also be involved in assessing the results of the assembly process by running tests on the assembled product.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with a small mechanical group designing a family of medical products
  • Support the mechanical group and accomplish tasks with minimal direction.
  • Have the opportunity to work in CAD, contribute to process development, work in an ISO certified clean room and play a significant role in advancing the project. 
  • The complexity of tasks will be commensurate with the experience and completed college course work. 
Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Solidworks experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands on mechanical experience (working on cars, fixing bicycles or FIRST robotics a plus)
  • Exposure to manufacturing a plus
  • Assembly experience a plus
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detailed oriented

*A full time student is defined as being enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester at an undergraduate program, or a minimum of 9 credits per semester for a graduate program.
