Internship - Automated CO2 Electrolysis Test Stand Engineer

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado, is the nation's only dedicated laboratory for research, development, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The Chemistry & Nanoscience Center at NREL has an opening for a part time Undergraduate Research Participant Program (RPP) intern in the area of CO2 electroreduction technologies focused on transforming renewable electricity, water, and waste CO2 in to fuels, chemicals, and materials.
This internship will support the development and installation of automated electrochemical test stands built for the purpose of studying CO2 electrocatalytic reduction reactions. It is required for the candidate to have a basic understanding of liquid and gas flow systems as well as basic electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have some experience outside of classwork in the following disciplines and equipment: PLC’s, DAQ Systems, thermocouples, pressure transducers, mass flow controllers, low voltage electrical systems, solenoid valves, PID controllers, pressure regulators. Being able to read and understand a P&ID is a necessity. LabVIEW and SolidWorks skills are highly desired but not necessary. Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting is highly desired.
Our desired candidate will have completed or soon to complete a B.S. in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation.
