PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - SR. RESEARCH ENGINEER - INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS

Job Summary:
Must have expertise in the field of robotics and automation as well manufacturing processes; experience in robot and production line integration, Robot Operating System (ROS), and industrial controls is desired; conduct technical work on projects; lead projects and teams consisting analysts, engineers, and technologists; make detailed plans and manage to the plans to accomplish technical, financial, and schedule goals; analyze technology, resource needs and market demand to promote specific projects or develop new business areas; prepare proposals and bids, and interface with customers; responsibility for project financial accounting including staff tasking, project funding, project expenses and all other aspects of project financials. Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to customers. Work with peers at SwRI to achieve strategic objectives and goals.
Education/Experience:
Requires a BS, MS or PhD degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with at least a 3.5 GPA. Must have technical project leadership experience and 8 to 16 years of technical experience, preferably in the areas of robotics and automation R&D or electromechanical systems. Candidate should be able to show experience leading high performance teams; excellent oral and written communication is required; must commit to continuous professional development; basic knowledge of concept development, system design, robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, and software development is required; must be able to review and assess work product from team members; must demonstrate knowledge of the problems faced by the robotics and automation industry such that they can identify the challenges and develop opportunities to support customers; proficiency in the use of MS Office products is required.
