Early Career Mechanical Engineer - Kiewit Engineering Group

Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc. is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer in the Lenexa, Kansas office to support the Kiewit Power Engineers (KPE) and Kiewit Industrial Engineering (K-IND) divisions. Looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve standards and tools while also utilizing these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall have a minimum of 0-4 years of experience in engineering, be familiar with current drawing and technical tools/programs/software with an understanding of design documentation creation/layout, and exhibit flexibility in work assignments while maintaining a growth mindset and continuing to develop in their technical and professional career. 
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist in the design of mechanical systems for power plants or other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, steam cycle systems, boiler feed and condensate systems, water treatment systems, fuel handling systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, heat transfer systems, material handling systems, and general plant/facility water, air, and gas systems. 
• Prepare design calculations and specifications for major power plant or other industrial facility related equipment including, but not limited to, combustion turbines, steam turbines, boilers, condensers, cooling towers, pumps, conveyors, and other material handling and dust collection equipment.
• Prepare mechanical engineering designs, including layout, design sketches, and conceptual design.
• Develop and check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements and company standards.
• Assist in the development of schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
• Coordinate with other design partners (both internal and external) including other drafters, designers, and engineers assigned to the project or a task and review work progress and results.
Qualifications
•  Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year university
•  Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred
•  Proficient in basic computer programs including MS Word and Excel, web browsing and e-mail programs, ideally with experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow (or equivalent) hydraulic simulations
•  Preferred: Bilingual in Japanese or Spanish
Working Conditions
•  Fast-paced office environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move up objects up to 30 pounds.
•  Travel in the U.S. and internationally (5-15%).
