Construction Inspector Aide

SAM, LLC is currently seeking a Construction Inspector Aide. The candidate will be involved with management and construction oversight associated with projects in Florida working directly with the Project Manager. These projects include construction management associated with maintenance, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of existing projects for FDOT and other local governmental agencies.

DUTIES
This position entails both field and office assignments along with limited travel outside of the area.

  • Under the review and direction of Project Manager, perform field inspection and oversight of construction activities
  • Maintain daily reports of inspection work along with detail records of project progress
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Review Contract documents to verify compliance with governmental regulations and conformance with project requirements
  • Assist with coordinating materials sampling and testing and verifying sufficient testing has been performed
  • Performs standard mathematical calculations
  • Able and willing to work day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules as required to support the project requirements
  • Able to attend pre-construction meetings, project progress meetings, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Additional projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Able to perform mathematical calculation, follow technical instruction, read plans and specifications
  • Assist and if needed, escalate issues to higher-level inspectors
  • Must obtain FDOT Intermediate MOT prior to field work
  • Must obtain necessary certifications prior to performing independent testing
  • Must be skilled in the use of office equipment such as calculators
  • Good communication skills are a must
  • Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle
