Position Summary
Univision’s Miami Local Media Group is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, hands-on Assistant Director of Technology (ADoT) to oversee all broadcast technology systems for our four Radio two full-power TV and stations. Tasks include but are not limited to the design, installation and maintenance of station technical infrastructure to support all aspects of broadcast transmitter sites, studio-to-transmitter links, ENG/EFP news production, radio studio and remote production, and TV news production with associated workflows. 

Job Responsibilities
·       Develop and update staff coverage schedules and determine project and task priorities in coordination with senior management and provide ongoing performance feedback to assigned staff and conduct annual performance evaluations with input from senior management.
  • Responsible and accountable for incident tracking and change management
·       Develop and oversee a preventative maintenance program for all broadcast transmission facilities and related links, field production technologies, ENG/EFP/Radio vehicles, ATSC compression systems, radio processing and automation systems, and audience measurement systems. This includes component level troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Additionally, as the designated chief operator, the successful candidate will be fully accountable for the proper operation and maintenance of our full power broadcast transmission facilities.
·       Maintains documentation for all systems.
  • Maintain proactive communication on all technology related issues among all departments in the station with a specific emphasis on Engineering, News, Production and Promotions.
  • Demonstrate leadership and provide concise direction to the engineering staff, developing confidence of that staff in handling all of their responsibilities.
  • Leverage technology to affect operating efficiencies.
  • Design and implement new facilities, equipment and infrastructure as directed by station operational requirements, the General Manager, and the Corporate Technology Group.
  • Maintain compliance with FCC, OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Establish a working relationship with cable and satellite providers to assure a robust, reliable, high quality signal availability to their systems for redistribution.
  • Administration of Engineering Operating and Capital budgets.
  • Attends Station-sponsored events as needed.
  • Univision is a 24x7 media company. Work periods include day, night, weekend and holiday rotations.
  • As this position supports 24x7 operation, candidate must have on-call availability, and flexibility to work days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed and without advance notice. Additionally, candidate may be required to work on site for extended periods to provide coverage in special circumstances, such as, during an inclement weather event.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by Sr. Director of Technology.







Required Skills & Experience
·       Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, related physical sciences or equivalent industry experience.
·       Minimum seven to ten years of module level repair and system configuration experience; five to seven plus years of production systems experience (including studio or remote productions).
·       In-depth knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
·       Ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on TV and Radio production, editing, RF, ATSC encoding, microwave, and field production systems.
·       In depth understanding of digital audio and video signals, transport streams, compression methodologies, codecs and standards.
·       Proficiency with PC utilities and related software such as Visio, Excel, Word, Power Point and Access.
·       Self-organized with significant attention to detail and procedures.
·       Experience supporting end users, including all levels of management with exceptional customer service.
·       Ability to follow through on support requests in a timely manner, escalating to other members of the team or manufacturer support when appropriate.
·       Ability to prioritize and address multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic work environment.
·       Ability to work independently and with other members of a team.
·       Proven leadership qualities.
·       Demonstrated significant and strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
·       Proficient English Oral and Written Communication, multilingual capabilities in Spanish would be beneficial. 
 
Eligibility Requirements
·       Must be willing to work from facilities in Miami, FL
·       Employment/education will be verified.
·       Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
·       Must have a valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record

Physical Requirements
·       Ability to lift up to (50) lbs. 
·       Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and sit for up to (8) hours
