Electrical Engineer

Position Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for entry-level Electrical Engineers to join a brand new state of the art micromill in Durant, OK! Start your engineering career with the most groundbreaking technology in the steel manufacturing industry. This opportunity is designed to prepare, train, and promote you into the various areas of leadership within CMC. Take our word for it, this is how a lot of our leadership started at CMC! You will focus primarily on steel making operations, technical training and leading employees. This position does not require any working experience. We are giving you the opportunity to gain that experience with us through hands on work in operations, mechanical/electrical maintenance, high power, automation, drives, engineering, and many other exciting areas within our facility.

This position is designed to be hands on in the Rolling Mill and not at a desktop 24/7. Selected candidates will be required to perform many of the duties within our facility. This may include outside work in hot/cold/wet conditions, working at heights and other unique situations. While we do not see our candidates in this position as long term laborers or operators, we feel it is important and necessary for our leaders to have a good understanding of the work we do and how challenging it may be.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Work in roles within Rolling Mill team to learn equipment, processes and procedures from start to finish
• Attend daily shift meetings to measure progress and obtain feedback
• Interact with technical engineers and non-technical operations personnel to integrate new technologies and update existing systems, as well as provide technical trouble shooting support to operations
• Improvement projects from design through installation and start-up.
• Assist in maintaining and improving the Rolling Mill process systems, including programmable logic controllers, process communications networks, and human machine interface equipment
• Provide technical support in the efforts of "continuous improvement' with regards to process efficiency and plant wide safety
• Under direction of management, work on projects, issues that arise, and other tasks as assigned
• May work in short-term assignment roles (fill in for vacations, vacancies, and other as required by the business)
• Ability to work flexible hours and available upon the needs of the business. This will include 12 hour rotating shifts, nights, and/or weekends.

Experience and Skill Requirements
• Basic understanding of low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including 480 volt and 15 KV systems
• Basic understanding of variable frequency drives, DC drives, transformers, programmable logic controllers
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering logic, including ladder logic, block logic, three phase systems and protective relay application knowledge.
• Knowledge of common industrial instrumentation devices
• Comfortable and confident in time management and multitasking skills needed for working under deadlines
• Team building and supervisory skills are a plus
• Ability to use sound and solid judgment in high pressure situations. 
• Ability to read electrical and electronic schematics
• Ability to work rotating shift to include nights, weekends and holiday
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in non-temperature controlled environments
• Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity which includes balancing, pulling, stooping, reaching, position and climb ladders to access elevated stock locations
• Must be able to work in all-weather conditions
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal 
• Strong computer skills are required

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in Electrical/Automation Engineering or Statistics.
