Field/Office Engineer Intern - Kiewit Water Facilities South - Summer 2020 (81620)

Kiewit’s water/wastewater group is currently seeking Field/Office Engineer Interns for their Summer 2020 intern program! This position will focus on the construction of water facilities, wastewater facilities, and desalination plants. An Intern position with Kiewit provides a hands-on learning experience directly related to the skills needed in a full-time construction career. You will have the opportunity to develop, participate and learn key roles and functions within construction management. As a Field/Office Engineer Intern you will be introduced to a variety of office and field activities as well as estimating in order to develop your understanding of construction. You can expect to spend time learning and working on shop drawings, submittals, schedules, take offs, pay requests, contract changes and project documentation. While learning these things you will have the opportunity to travel the country building complex projects that make a profound impact on communities.
District Overview
Kiewit's Water Facilities South group is one of Kiewit's leading water/wastewater districts specializing in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants. Although we are headquartered in Dallas TX, with regional offices in Miami FL and Atlanta GA, we also pursue various projects stretching across the country. Location
Kiewit's Water Facilities South Group is based in Irving, TX but leads work all over the southern region of the United States. including, but not limited to, Tampa FL, Miami FL, Atlanta GA, and Nashville TN. However, one of the many things that makes Kiewit's culture unique is that we go where the work is, which exposes your career to abundant opportunities. Responsibilities 
•   Field Operations: Work with a vibrant and diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule construction. Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft, prepare work plans and work packages, order and schedule material deliveries
•   Office Engineering: Perform takeoffs from drawings, generating change orders reviewed by Project Manager, provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations
•   Estimating: Review and analyze data relative to the project, complete plans and specification reviews for projects, assist with the preparation of a bid
Qualifications 
•   Ability to travel and relocate as the business requires (25%-50%)
•   Currently pursuing your Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, environmental engineering, or related degree
•   Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments 
•   Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative 
•   Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time 
•   Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future 
•   Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt 
•   Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 
•   Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives 
•   Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
