Field Engineer
Field Engineer - Job Summary:
This position assists in the management and coordination of the technical and administrative requirements of a project. Field engineers are responsible for assisting in planning and scheduling, production, cost management, contract management, estimating, HSE, and quality.
Responsibilities:
• Build water infrastructure projects such as wastewater and water treatment plants, pump stations, reservoirs and dams
• Maintain project document control and procedures.
• Assist Superintendent with all tasks including scheduling updates.
• Responsible for tracking and ordering concrete materials.
• Assist with inventory and warehousing of materials and equipment, as well as expediting material orders.
• Coordinate and review drawings, submissions, specifications, changes and document control.
• Prepare quantity take-offs as directed (for production analysis or material orders, etc.).
• Assists with implementing and monitoring the project quality plan.
• Liaise between subcontractors and designers on field details.
• Handle 3rd party inspections.
• Assist with the day-to-day construction expenses in alignment with the project costing system.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Construction Management, or an Engineering discipline is required.
• You should have a desire to pursue a career in the construction industry as a Project Manager or Superintendent.
• The successful candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate with some exposure to Microsoft Office and construction industry related software.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Valid driver license
• Previous construction industry experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) and other construction industry related software for scheduling, document management, and drafting/modeling.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Arm, hand, and finger dexterity with both hands involved in activities such as reaching, handling, and feeling—and with good eyesight
· Should be able to navigate through the work-site on a daily basis
· Occasionally climbs up and down ladders, scaffolding, stairs
· Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, high places, and in excavated areas
· May work around chemicals, near grinding and torching and/or near cranes
· May work in close contact with other people
· Will be expected to do public-speaking and/or facilitate training courses
