Mechanical Design Engineer 1

Job Description:

  • Mechanical Engineer supporting development engineering, testing, and production support activities.
  • Tasking will include mechanical concept development, technical and cost proposal development, mechanical specification development, 3 D modeling and simulation, detailed mechanical design and documentation, production support, test plan development, and mechanical development and qualification testing.
  • This individual must be willing and able to support lot acceptance test activities located at various US Navy locations (up to 10% overnight travel.)
 
 
Required Skills:

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • Able and willing to travel for test, supplier meetings, and customer meetings (up to 10%)
  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
 
Desired Skills:

  • Mechanical product development or test experience
  • Experience in the use of 3D modeling software, SolidWorks or CREO preferred
  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS Mechanical, or similar FEA software
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Excellent collaborative team skills
 
Physical Requirements:

  • Willing and able to travel to company and government test facilities to support sonobuoy testing. Overnight travel will be required.
  • Willing and able to work aboard Government open ocean test vessels
  • Normal color vision and manual dexterity
  • Willing to lift 40 pounds floor to waist height
  • Willingness to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Use of hand tools, measurement tools, and computer is required.
