This position will be a key member of a Worker Safety and Health Safety Engineering team to develop and implement programs, policies and procedures related to electrical safety according to DOE requirements and consensus standards such as NFPA 70 and 70E.
You will team with other support organizations to develop and conduct training, communications, and quality assurance within the programs you own. You will also have the following responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for Electrical Safety at PNNL.
- Qualify as an Authority Having Jurisdiction for the implication of Electrical Codes
- Provide strategic and technical leadership in Electrical Safety programs and remain cognizant of current and future regulatory requirements applicable to research and laboratory operations
- Monitor potential hazards and assists in developing and implementing control strategies.
- Periodically review the organization's health and safety standards in accordance with DOE, OSHA and state regulations and contractual requirements. Ensure that quality control procedures are implemented according to applicable regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and 15+ years of relevant Electrical Engineering experience, or advanced degree and 13+ years of relevant Electrical Engineering experience.
- Demonstration of experience in leadership at a company level and committee/team participation at a regional level.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical problems and provide solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as an Authority Having Jurisdiction.
- Demonstrated experience supporting field activities related but not limited to facilities and operations, laboratory research, and safety process.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Electrical Safety standards including NFPA 70 and 70E in accordance with the Department of Energy requirements
- Demonstrated experience in electrical safety aspects of DC power systems.
- Registered Professional Engineer (Electrical).
- Demonstrated experience in the design and installation of building power distribution systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the performance and review of power system studies, including arc flash.
