CAD Technician - 3D Production Artist

SALARY: $40,081.60 - $63,960.00 Annually

REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES:

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of CAD Technician - 3D Production Artist.

General Description

Specialized technical work involving systems implementation of computer-aided design and drafting (CADD).

Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college in drafting, computer graphics, civil engineering, engineering field surveying, mathematics or planning or closely related field.

Requires one (1) year experience in drafting work.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

None.

Preferences:

Experience with hard surface polygonal modeling (experience with CAD based/Solid surface modeling.
Experience with architectural and illustrative lighting, rendering and texturing.
Experience in animation and post-production is a plus.
5 years' experience in a 3D Production role
Experience with platforms such a Solidworks or AutoCad Fusion360, Rhino, MOI

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Broward County, Florida is seeking a knowledgeable professional responsible for providing data visualization and creating 3D renderings of infrastructure, such as roads, traffic signals and architecture. Broward County, located in southeast Florida, has a population of approximately 1.89 million and is one of the most diverse and dynamic areas in the United States.  This outstanding position offers a unique and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional interested in joining a progressive and highly successful organization.

Prepares engineering drawings using AutoCAD for County survey development, maintaining drawings and CAD plot file library.

Interacts with and provides support to various personnel within and outside the organization.

Selects, develops and implements CAD systems.

Creates and manages reference libraries and data bases.

Creates scripting and automation code for graphics processing.

Selects, develops and implements graphics processing systems.

Redraws Section Maps.

Creates drawings based on interpretation of legal description of various property boundaries.

Creates and maintains computer generated project files for road right-of-way projects.

Utilizes right-of-way reference material from Broward County Property Appraisers website. Assists public review of various road right-of-way maps, aerials and other reference material.

Manipulates right-of-way reference material for drawing projects.

Prints various right-of-way maps and document reference material for in-house use.

Assists internal agencies regarding road right-of-way inquiries.

Creates Parcel Sketches using CAD for rights-of-way being acquired or vacated by Broward County.

Researches, extracts and calculates information pertaining to properties and buildings, related systems and infrastructures.

Performs computer system administrator duties.

Creates, modifies and updates drawing in various disciplines.

Produces prints.

Performs drawings scans.

Revises the Section Sheets by inserting newly-recorded rights-of-way parcels and/or vacations and correcting past drafting errors.

Revises the deed files for corresponding Sections after receiving recorded copies of right-of-way documents.

Converts Section Sheets from hand-drawn Mylar to electronic CAD files.

Performs related work as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
