Engineering/STEAM/LEGO Camp Instructor

Camp Towanda is looking for an enthusiastic and diligent STEAM Activity instructor to work with our campers ages 7-17 and lead programs related to creative problem solving skills in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math. Your home base will be the Camp Towanda LEGO Room. It is a step into another dimension and a very popular place for campers of all ages! The traditional camp activities focuses on all land and water sports while also incorporating art and theatre. This program is sprinkled throughout the normal schedule and gives a good alternative to the physical activities. Campers also have the opportunity to sign up for more intensive LEGO classes based upon the LEGO Education Machine Sets. Previous projects have also included model rocketry, slime making, marshmallow catapults, and other fun creative experiments! You will be directly involved in the curriculum planning and instruction. This is a great opportunity to get kids thinking and tinkering while adding to your resume and building your creative problem solving skills!

Your primary role will be working with the campers as a counselor, living in a cabin with campers and other co-counselors. Working at camp simply as a counselor, in-and-of-itself, provides hands-on experience and leadership opportunities, while building skills that hiring managers are looking for, such as flexibility, adaptability, initiative, self-direction, social and cross-cultural skills, productivity, accountability, leadership and responsibility.

There are typically six, 50 minute long activity periods per day; The STEAM Activity will not be scheduled every period every day. When you are not assigned a class, you will be with your assigned group as a counselor, ensuring safety, team-building, growth and development in all activities and in life at camp.
