Mechanical Engineer- Merritt Island

As an associate in RS&H’s Aerospace and Defense Practice, the qualified candidate will work on specialized design teams, working with Engineers, Architects and System Design Specialists for design of Aerospace Ground Support Equipment (GSE), mechanisms, critical ground systems and infrastructure supporting vertical and horizontal launch vehicle related projects. Duties will include support roles in guiding systems integration; performing engineering calculations, analyses, component and system designs; and providing multi-discipline engineering support for development of design documents (drawings and specifications) to be issued for construction. An understanding of launch vehicle and space vehicle systems requirements and senior level experience with launch vehicle GSE and ground systems requirements.
 
The Mechanical Engineering Associate will have earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.Preferred prior engineering experience should include design of ground support equipment, critical lift rigging and tooling, and precision machined components. The ideal candidate must have an interest in pursuing a career involving design of specialized facilities and systems in support of rocket assembly and launch infrastructure as well as other missile/defense related facilities. 
 
 Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
  • Up to 4 years of experience with mechanical design and analysis of mechanisms, actuation systems, and/or ground support equipment
  • Working knowledge and ability to use 3D modeling software
  • Ability to produce designs based on client specifications and requirement documents 
  • Ability to work as a multi-discipline engineering team to produce constructible drawing packages
  • Due to the nature of client projects, US citizenship or permanent legal residency is required
Preferred Qualifications:   
  • Creo (Pro-E) and Windchill experience
  • NX NASTRAN experience
  • Understanding of welding, machining, and fabrication techniques and processes
  • AutoCAD or Revit experience
