Design Assistant/Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs under close guidance of internship supervisor in all aspects of the Interior Design process, including preparation of presentation materials, schematic design, design development, contract documents, renderings and construction administration activities within an established budget, schedule, site and programmatic requirements.

EDUCATION:
o   Seeking Bachelor/ Master’s Degree from an accredited Interior Design/Architecture program
o   Degrees must come from a CIDA‐accredited Interior Design program or NAAB‐accredited Architecture program

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 0‐2 years of experience in hospitality or residential Interior Design

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o   General office administrative duties
o   Schedules and meets with product vendors to update materials library and facilitates in‐house meetings with design staff
o   Performs tasks according to specific direction under close supervision of designers
o   Executes small tasks as part of larger assignments
o   Assists in day‐to‐day coordination efforts required to produce a set of Construction Documents and FF&E Specifications
o   Assists with Materials Library organization and general maintenance

DESIGN:
o   Developing a strong understanding of design principles and theory
o   Interested in all areas of design including interior design, interior architecture, furniture design, accessorizing, and graphic design
o   Demonstrates creative thinking and possesses strong hand sketching skills

TECHNICAL:
o   Basic knowledge of construction documentation and specification writing
o   AutoCAD, Photoshop, and InDesign experience preferred
o   Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook is desirable
o   Knowledge of SketchUp and Revit is desirable
