Temporary Instructional Design Associate

Job Summary
The Office of Distance Education within the College of Engineering and Computing Department is seeking a Temporary Instructional Design Associate to join their team of professionals . The candidate will assist with the design and development of distance education courses and materials Candidates will assist with all aspects of the execution and operation of the college’s distance education programs
Duties will include:
  • Revises and enhances learning materials and integrates technology into traditional teaching practices. 
  • Assists in the implementation of design methods to transform content into instructionally sound, high-quality distance education courseware. 
  • Perform regular course maintenance, training, and troubleshooting of systems. Assists in documenting workflow processes related to instructional design. 
  • Assists in implementation of department’s Quality Assurance standards and best practices in creation of assigned distance learning courses and lecture videos. 
  • Identifies, investigates, and documents bugs/shortcomings relating to instructional design technologies and proposes solutions when possible. 
  • Continually researches, evaluates, and implements new instructional resources and technologies including software, LTI tools, and emerging distance learning best practices. 
  • Works with team to consult on instructional design innovations, processes, methodologies, and deployment timelines. 
  • Demonstrating and training faculty on best practices for operating media equipment and capture systems. 
  • Provides course design consultation and support in-person/remotely, by telephone, email and live chat. 
  • Assists the department with general day-to-day operations of the unit. 

Minimum Qualifications:
  •  Knowledge of instructional design, online course management, and curriculum development 
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of programming languages, concepts, and practices 
  •  Knowledge of Canvas LMS, Mediasite Video Platform, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Zoom, Crestron/Polycom systems, Camtasia, RDP, HTML coding, and scripting 
  •  Ability to analyze and troubleshoot various situations and respond accordingly; works efficiently as a team or independently 
  • Experience with video/photo-editing, video encoding, Microsoft Office 365, Teams, and Sharepoint 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced and hands-on environment 
  • Detail oriented; excellent collaboration and organizational skills 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 

Work Schedule:
Hours of operation vary between 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. depending on department needs. Must be able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and some weekends at the Engineering Center, other FIU Campuses, or remotely in cases of university emergency closing. 

Advertised Salary:
$12.00-$13.00/Hour
