Systems/Certification Engineer

The System/Certification engineer will be responsible for the effective development and implementation of software quality assurance (SQA) programs to ensure that software programs adhere to DO-178 compliant company processes.
Responsibilities include:
  • Helping Avidyne meet FAA standards and regulation requirements for new and existing products;
  • Chairing the Avidyne software Change Control Board;
  • Maintaining Avidyne's on-going compliance with DO-178B and DO-178C software development standards;
  • Collaborating with members of Avidyne's Engineering team to sustain SQA standards, procedures and controls;
  • Working with Systems and Software Engineering groups during the product development cycle to determine new/modified regulatory obligations based on the product feature sets;
  • Contributing as a primary point of contact with certification authorities.
Required education/experience:
  • BS Engineering (CS,EE,ME)
  • Extensive Software development experience, preferably in Avionics, aviation or other mission critical, highly regulated application space.
Highly Desired experience/education:
  • Software DER Certification or desire to train for DER certification.
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or other relevant field
  • Avionics or aviation background or interest
  • DO-178B, DO-178C, DO-160 knowledge
  • History of employment in highly regulated industry.
