The Opportunity
NRG is seeking a Market Research Intern to join us for our 2020 fall internship program. Our internship is an opportunity for students to be provided with a hands-on experience to work in the research field. By contributing to analysis for various projects, the intern will be exposed to the tasks and deliverables of a Research Analyst. Below is general information on the internship.
- Start Date: Approximately Monday, September 21, 2020 (Date is flexible)
- Commitment: 3 months
- Location: Due to COVID-19 circumstances, this position will be remote until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and it is safe to re-open our Culver City office. Technology will be provided to assist with working from home.
- Compensation: $15 per hour.
The Role
- By contributing to data analysis for various projects, the Intern will be exposed to the tasks and deliverables of a Research Analyst. The Intern will support our Client Services teams in a wide range of data analytic needs.
- Collaborate in market research studies for major technology, theatrical, OTT, TV and video game clients including but not limited to brand studies, creative testing, trackers, messaging/positioning evaluation, and market segmentations.
- Potential to participate in all steps of a research project including but not limited to: survey design and proofing, questionnaire writing, collecting and analyzing data, data table proofing, link checking, writing reports and incorporating internal and client feedback.
- Assist Analysts in reviewing data and pulling verbatim quotes for client reports.
- Populate data to create client presentations and refine reports for better story-telling.
- Potential to contribute to thought leadership studies and business development efforts, deepening communications skills which can be applied for future marketing or business development roles.
- Contribute to the development of marketing materials for digital promotions and client communications.
- Conduct industry research, staying ahead of industry news and trends.
- Provide weekly round-ups of news driving growth for our clients.
- Write weekly report summaries for internal NRG team.
- Assist with identifying new areas of interest for the company for both qualitative and quantitative research services.

Who You Are

- Internally-motivated self-starter who continuously strives to get things done, regardless of challenges encountered.
- Strong, concise technical writing skills.
- Excellent PowerPoint and visual communication skills.
Ideal Candidate
- Strong interest in motion pictures and the entertainment industry is a requirement.
- 1+ year(s) of relevant coursework and/or experience working in quantitative or qualitative research, entertainment/film studies, consumer insights, consumer research, or in analysis/strategy.
- Candidates with a focus in a business or social science field, or one with an emphasis on statistics or quantitative research methodologies preferred.
- Candidates must be actively working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree and must be eligible to work in the US. Graduates may qualify if they have finished school within six months of the start of the internship.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with pivot tables and writing macros a plus.
Position Type
This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt position in our Culver City office.
Work Environment
This job typically operates in a professional office environment but may be remote depending on circumstances of COVID-19. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
