Senior Civil Engineer

The Senior Civil Engineer position performs professional engineering work in the design, investigation, and construction of public works and related projects. Duties include designing, preparing and reviewing proposed construction plans and plats; administering contracts; reviewing and revising City construction standards and specifications; overseeing the construction of capital improvement projects; supervising engineering staff and directing design professionals; conducting meetings and attending public hearings; responding to citizen questions, complaints and requests for information; and assisting in the development and administration of the departmental budget. Duties will require a high level of verbal and written communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and six years increasing responsible experience in professional engineering design, three years as a professional engineer, required. Technical background in drainage highly beneficial. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer design software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Arc View. Must also have Professional Engineer’s license and have, or obtain within specified timeframe, Texas licensure and a valid Texas driver’s license. A résumé must be submitted with application.
