INSS Front Office Management and Administration Internship (Virtual)- Spring 2021
The Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) at National Defense University (NDU) is seeking U.S. citizen students for a volunteer internship opportunity for Spring Semester 2021. INSS is a collection of Department of Defense research centers established in 1984. The mission of INSS is to conduct research in support of the academic and leader development programs at NDU, and to provide strategic support to the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Unified Combatant Commands.
INSS includes the following Centers: the Center for Strategic Research (CSR), the Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs (CSCMA), the Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction (CSWMD), and the National Defense University Press (NDU Press).
The Management Intern selected for this position will serve in the front office of the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS), National Defense University. They will assist the Director for Research and Strategic Support, INSS Management Team, Center Directors, and Senior/Distinguished Research Fellows as needed in support of the research mission.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support to the INSS Front Office Team, including assisting with logistical support, records management, property management, scheduling assistance, social media and external engagement, event planning, and other duties as assigned
- Perform necessary updates and data entry to ensure accuracy and completeness of records
- May have the opportunity to provide research or teaching assistance to our Senior Fellows and Staff, as well as participate in Defense Department and Interagency meetings/events. However, please note that this is NOT a research position.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Preference for students studying government, business administration, public administration, non-profit management, communications, or similar programs
- Student must be able to successfully complete a background investigation
- Student must be a self-starter who is comfortable working remotely
