Product Growth & Optimization Intern (SEO) REMOTE - Winter/Spring 2021

NPR’s Winter/Spring 2021 Internship Program will be fully remote. 
Program Duration: January 11 - April 16, 2021
The Product Growth & Optimization Intern (SEO) will work on NPR’s Podcast Product Team within the Digital Media department of NPR. This internship is focused on helping to optimize NPR’s digital content to help expand our reach and grow our podcast audiences. This role is cross-functional and requires a skill set that spans product, marketing, and analytics. 
This intern will learn: 
  • How to design a newsroom and podcast SEO strategy 
  • How to monitor search behaviors and trends 
  • How to plan a paid search campaign 
  • Strategies for optimizing digital content to improve visibility 
  • Ways to analyze search traffic and measure SEO success
  • Everything about the podcast industry 
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Report to the Podcast Audience Strategist at NPR and work on projects that aim to grow and diversify NPR’s podcast audience.
  • Help to explore and experiment with new podcast platforms, marketing channels, and other digital mediums where NPR can reach new audiences. 
  • Help drive organic traffic to NPR.org by: 
  • Collaborating with content creators across NPR (Programming, Newsroom, etc.) on on-page optimization projects, including conducting keyword research and monitoring search trends.
  • Reviewing technical SEO audits and coordinating with the Web team on implementing improvements.
  • Looking for opportunities to build off-page search authority
  • Regularly monitor organic traffic and key search metrics. 
  • Monitor the competitive landscape of podcasting and curate competitor news and insights. 
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization (Programming, Marketing, Engagement, Audience Insights) on audience growth and content optimization opportunities. 
WHO CAN APPLY?
  • LOCATION: Must be planning to work from the United States and authorized to work in the United States throughout the Winter/Spring 2021 internship dates. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship. 
REQUIRED SKILLS 
  • General knowledge of the practice of SEO and a willingness to learn more about all aspects (on page, off page, technical) of this digital marketing strategy
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills 
  • Experience working with Google Analytics
  • Interest in working on a variety of projects 
  • Digital marketing chops
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • A bonus, but not required: Experience using SEMrush or another SEO tool (Moz, Ahrefs, etc.)
