Every day, our employees and member stations touch the lives of millions worldwide and that includes our interns.
From day one, interns at NPR are given real-world, hands-on responsibilities. Working alongside top professionals in the field, interns do meaningful work across a variety of departments at NPR.
Across our organization, we’re building a workplace where collaboration is essential, diverse voices are heard, and inclusion is the key to our success.

Work assignments will vary depending on team needs and news demands, but the intern’s work this term may include coverage of the inauguration, the next presidential term and the COVID-19 pandemic. The intern can expect to hone their data visualization, coding and reporting skills with the team’s mentorship.
A digital portfolio is required for consideration. If possible, also include a link to your GitHub profile. (If sharing via GitHub is not an option for you, please provide us another way to evaluate your technical skills. This might entail sharing a side project, writing up how you approached a project, or submitting a code sample in a different form.) Please include links in your resume or cover letter.
