MEP Engineer

JWL Engineering is actively searching for a an energetic and highly talented MEP Engineer with proven experience in High end residential MEP design for immediate employment in our Boca Raton, Florida office. The ideal candidate will bring innovative thinking and a passion for design to the position. The candidate will be asked to develop and execute project tasks associated with the design of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in high-end residential and commercial projects. Part of daily activities includes coordination within internal design teams as well as with architects, other engineers, and clients.
 
Immediate Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
·        Develop HVAC, plumbing and electrical power plans for new or renovated facilities
·        Complete drawings, specifications, studies, and calculations for regulatory submittal, bid, and construction
·        Write narratives that describe the MEP and special systems that may include user requirement specifications and sequences of operation
·        Development of exceptional HVAC construction plans, calculations and other documents including but not limited to: Heating/cooling loads, Specification development, Equipment selection and Duct sizing
·        Ability to make reasonable assumptions based on acquired knowledge, previous experiences and sound judgement when information is insufficient or unobtainable 
·        Coordinate with Electrical, Fire, Architecture, Structural, Civil, and other disciplines for comprehensive building design or modification
·        Maintain strict schedules and timelines to ensure all project deliverables meet contracted deadlines
·        Follow projects throughout construction; documenting submittal reviews, construction design support, and making field visits to verify construction is proceeding per the design intent
·        Resolve issues or problems concerning conflicting design requirements, specifications and/or difficult coordination requirements
·        Prepare or review plans and/or technical specifications according to the contract documents
·        Direct activities of MEP CAD and Designer support staff
·        Mentors junior designers and engineers
·        Familiarity with electrical design and power systems
 
Candidate should be able to document:
·        5+ years of experience designing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for residential, commercial, retail, restaurant and industrial faculties
·        Strong AutoCAD experience required
·        Revit experience preferred
·        Strong verbal and written communication skills
·        Strong understanding of the construction process
·        Successful experience in leading design teams and effectively directing the flow of information to the appropriate parties
·        Bachelor's degree in engineering and an EIT required
·        Background in construction or a construction related field is a plus
·        Supply at least 3 professional references.
