OVERVIEW
Wells Fargo Commercial Capital is a market leader in providing working capital, sales financing, investment capital, trust services, strategic capital, global receivables & trade finance, and renewables project finance serving customers through six core businesses.
 
Wells Fargo Strategic Capital (WFSC)
The summer analyst will be a part of Wells Fargo Strategic Capital (WFSC) working alongside multiple divisions. The summer analyst will primarily work with investment teams to analyze and execute private equity and venture capital transactions. WFSC provides capital solutions to companies for layers of the capital structure that other parts of Wells Fargo do not generally provide, such as common stock, preferred stock, and mezzanine debt. WFSC’s investment size primarily ranges from $3MM to $30MM. The team provides capital solutions to emerging and middle market companies, both existing bank clients and prospective clients. WFSC works independently in some instances and in other situations works in partnership with other Wells Fargo lines of business. Although there is flexibility in the stage of development of companies of interest, the general focus is large growth equity.
 
·       Energy
The Energy division focuses on clients in the energy industry, including oil and gas (upstream, midstream, and downstream), energy services and equipment, and power and utilities. The team is comprised of highly experienced team members who are headquartered in Houston, with offices in Denver and Dallas.
 
·       Diversified Industries
The Diversified Industries division focuses on all industry segments outside of energy, technology and healthcare, working closely with, but not limited to, clients within Commercial Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, and Capital Finance.
 
·       Healthcare
The Healthcare division focuses on all segments of the Healthcare industry including Healthcare Services, Digital Health, Medical Technology, Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology. The team is headquartered in Palo Alto, CA.
 
·       Fund Investing
The Fund Investing division focuses on investing as a limited partner in Small Business Investment Companies (SBIC), Community Development Equity and Business Development Companies. The team is headquartered in Irvine, CA.
 
·       Principal Technology Investing
The Principal Technology Investing division invests in fast-growing, private companies that are strategically aligned with Wells Fargo and may advance the product development, operations, risk management, or distribution strategies of Wells Fargo businesses. The group’s focus areas are generally centered around Fintech and Enterprise IT, with focus on the following sectors: Capital Markets Technology, AI & Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Payments, Real Estate Tech, RegTech, Digital Identity and the Blockchain/DLT space. The group also invests in various subsectors of technology, including: Logistics Tech, InsureTech, Business Process/Automation Software, IoT, mobile, hardware, and other emerging technologies. The team is based in New York, Palo Alto, and Charlotte, NC.
 
WHAT THE PROGRAM OFFERS
The Summer Financial Analyst Program is designed to provide undergraduate students with an in-depth understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of a full-time analyst. You will gain exposure to Wells Fargo’s operations, business strategies, and corporate culture by working in a Wells Fargo Commercial Capital lending office with experienced team members.
 
The Summer Financial Analyst Program is approximately 10 weeks in length and is non-rotational. The successful completion of this internship will not lead to a full time opportunity within Wells Fargo Strategic Capital. This internship will provide summer analysts experience within Private Equity and could lead to a formal recommendation to be considered for full time analyst positions within investment banking or another credit/lending business and/or location, based on candidate preference and business need.
 
During the summer, we focus on your training and development so you’ll be prepared to take your next career step once you complete the program. You will gain insight into Wells Fargo’s corporate and credit culture, as well as opportunities for community involvement, networking and analytical training in line of business-specific concepts along with:
 
·       On-the-job experience: Working as part of a high-performing team in your business group is how you will gain in-depth experience as a summer financial analyst. You will begin to build your analytical skills and understanding of credit by actively participating in your team’s day-to-day activities.
 
·       Professional Support: You will be matched with a full-time analyst or a high-performing investment professional who will be your resource and coach, available to answer your questions, help you through challenging situations, and give you feedback throughout the course of the summer. 
 
·       A virtual speaker seriesWells Fargo’s top leaders provide insight into how to make the most of your summer experience while you get to learn about trends in the financial markets. 
 
·       Organized networking activities:  We promote community involvement and networking with other summer financial analysts.
 
YOUR NEXT STEP
Summer financial analysts who successfully complete the program are considered for the Financial Analyst Program. A significant number of interns who work with us during the summer return to Wells Fargo full-time.  At this time Wells Fargo Strategic Capital does not have full time analyst roles.

We have summer financial analyst positions available nationwide, however, a majority are located in the following cities: New York, Palo Alto and Houston.

·       Bachelor’s degree with an expected graduation date in December 2021 or May/June 2022
·       Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail and accuracy
·       Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
·       Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
·       Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
·       Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills
