Outdoor Education Instructor
The South Carolina Waterfowl Association is looking for a Natural Resource Instructor for Camp Leopold, to assist with the Camp Woodie Summer Camp Program, a program designed to immerse students in the outdoors and develop an understanding and appreciation for the natural world. Instructors will teach cabin groups in three classes, Waterfowl, Wetlands & Blood Runs Cold/Reptiles & Amphibians. The instructor will help prepare the facility, teach classes and assist with other camp program and activities as needed.
Housing will be provided at our 960-acre Wildlife Education Center (WEC), which is less than a mile from Lake Marion and within an hour's drive of both Charleston and Columbia. Meals will be provided when camp is in session. (meals may not provided on weekends) and there are laundry facilities on site. Candidates may be considered for other employment options within the organization after successfully demonstrating the ability to perform expected duties.
The position will begin May 23rd 2021 and run through August 13th 2021, with the option to extend through the fall of 2021. For more information on our Camp Leopold program, please visit our website at: http://www.wildlifeedcenter.org/camp-leopold/
Qualifications:
-Candidates must enjoy working with children in the outdoors.
-Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License.
-Experience working with youth in a learning environment.
-Ability to work nontraditional hours, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
-Candidates will represent Camp Leopold and the South Carolina Waterfowl Association in an appropriate manner.
-Enthusiasm, initiative, and passion for teaching youth about the outdoors is a must.
Salary:
$250-/week with lodging & meals provided.
