LOCATION: Houston, Texas
YES Prep's Communication and Marketing team believes in creating learning opportunities for college students who want to get their feet wet in Communications and Marketing field with hands-on job experience. In the Communications Intern role you will play an integral role in everyday programming by working in partnership with the Communications team to prepare content and media for YES Prep’s digital platforms.
The right person for this internship is someone who is eager to learn more about the Communications function by being an active participant in the day-to-day processes and projects!
THE ROLE
When you join YES Prep’s Communication and Marketing team, some of the exciting work will include:
- Creating and coordinating content for social media campaigns and observances;
- Providing support on updating and creating content for website;
- Contributing to social media and website analytics reporting;
- Assisting with developing and writing content such as blogs, web copy, etc.;
- Assisting in planning and writing the monthly e-newsletter;
- Assisting in designing graphics in Canva;
- Photography and videography;
- Editing and formatting photos and videos for social media and web;
- Attending and participating in the Communications and Marketing Team’s weekly team meeting;
- Collaborating with members of the Communications and Marketing team on a variety of projects and tasks;
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
MUST HAVES
- Enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program
- Will use internship to earn college class credit
- Strong writing skills and aesthetically pleasing work products
- Ability to learn new systems and programs quickly and efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team
BONUS POINTS
- Majoring in a Communications field
- Eager to dive into the Communications and Marketing field
- Experience with Microsoft and Adobe programs
- Knowledge of Canva, Asana, Hootsuite, and Google Analytics
- Letter of recommendation from professor, previous internship, or work supervisor
- Has a creative energy and tends to think outside the box
- Leadership experience at the college or professional level
