SOFTW01563 Software Engineer

The candidate will design, develop, and maintain complex computer programs for the US Navy. The candidate should have experience developing detailed requirements, and designing, prototyping, implementing, and testing a complex software system.
Responsibilities:
- Actively support all aspects of the system development lifecycle (analysis, requirements definition, design, coding, development and unit testing, maintenance and preparing associated documentation) with an emphasis on software coding
- Gain an understanding of project requirements, prepare work flow charts, and provide recommendations for programming trade-offs
- Develop software code that meets the project requirements
- Perform software tests and provide clarification to the test team about how the software works in order to assist them in preparing test documentation
- Provide inputs to the operating instructions
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of software engineering, design, development, and test experience
- Strong C++ experience (Linux strongly desired).
- Able to clearly and accurately document software source code, specifications, and documentation.
- Familiar with verification and validation of hardware/software, hardware/software configuration management, and basic systems engineering design principles
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate constructively with government and contractor engineers
Preferred Skills & Experience: •
- Knowledge of surface Navy Electronic Warfare systems
- Experience with OMG DDS compliant middleware
- Experience with UML modeling tools
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in software engineering or computer science
Minimum Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance
