Social Media Intern REMOTE

The Dr. Yum Project is a physician-led non-profit organization on a mission to help families and communities overcome the barriers to eating well. We help folks overcome barriers preparing healthy food at home; the three most common being cost, convenience and taste. We do this by providing free on-line tools on our website DoctorYum.org, offering a proven preschool nutrition curriculum, a new home edition of the food adventure, creating and maintaining partnerships with local and national medical practices, providing more than 200 recipes, holding on-line cooking classes and more. There is a goldmine of heart-tugging stories to tell and we are looking for an enthusiastic and technically savvy individual to join our growing team as a Social Media Intern to increase participation in our programs as measured by website traffic, class participation and curriculum sales . We’re looking for a self-starting, passionate, hardworking individual who is ready to roll up their sleeves and learn on the go.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with the DYP team to refine social media strategy and best practices
- Managing social media channels (Facebook & Instagram, and possibly Twitter & Pinterest) and editorial calendar to ensure content is timely, relevant, and engaging
- Keep up to date and informed on new social media trends and adapt accordingly
- Identify leaders and influencer's (internal/external) and engage them in brand activities
- Participate in social content creation process by collaborating with cross-divisional teams
- Compile bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly social reports
Qualifications:
- Student seeking a graphic design and/or marketing/communications degree is a plus
- Experience with all major social media platforms
- Creative thinking skills
- Graphic experience to create all social media posts
- Ability to work as a team and take direction from senior staff
- Experience managing social media properties
- Ability to create social content quickly in response to trends, major news, etc.
- Experience using a social media management tool, i. e., HootSuite, TweetDeck, etc.
- With a dash of independence
Expectations:
The intern will be expected to keep a consistent, though flexible, schedule. The intern is required to provide their own transportation and laptop. The intern should be able to successfully communicate with people from various backgrounds and cultures. Organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, prioritize and exercise good judgement are important skills
.This is an unpaid position that can be done remotely with weekly check-ins. The intern will work approximately 10-15 hours per week.
The Dr. Yum Project will work with the intern to meet requirements for school credit.
We are looking for an intern who will work through the spring term, with the possibility of renewal or conversion to a paid gig for the fall.
