Account Manager
Assists the Director of Marketing and Communications for the College of Engineering and Computing on the process of marketing and advertising programs for the Moss Department of Construction. Implements the established marketing and communications plan in support of the university's strategic plans. Translates difficult concepts and highly technical information to the end-user to increase the visibility of the accomplishments and the scope of FIU research.
- Works with the Director of Marketing and Communications for the college to execute a marketing and communications plan in support of the university's strategic research plans. Works with several departments within the Division of External Relations, Strategic Communications and Marketing to recommend and coordinate opportunities for media placement. Assists with the evaluation and placement of paid media plan.
- Supports the planning, organization, development and implementation of public relations/communications programs including events which advance the Moss Department of Construction public relations and marketing objectives. This includes radio, television, email, newspapers, magazines, search engines and other printed and electronic media.
- Completes additional research and writing projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications and/or the Department Chair.
- Writes stories; edits articles; writes headlines; secures photographs; copy edits proofs; writes and post news items to FIU News; writes articles and briefs for the FIU Magazine and other venues of interest. Assists with other printed and online materials as required, including videos, print and electronic newsletters and advertisements. Writes and produces collateral (print and electronic) as needed.
- Prepares presentations for the Director of Marketing and Communications and other key personnel involved in external relations and marketing activities related to the Department. Provides on-demand editing service to the Department.
- Provides content to update the Department website and ensures that information and links in it are current and accurate.
- Maintains flexibility and sensitivity to establish and maintain necessary rapport with all levels of personnel and external constituencies. Handles confidential matters concerning the untimely disclosure of which would be detrimental.
- Serves as a liaison between the college/school/department and other university units and external groups and individuals, as needed.
- Works with the Division of External Relations, Strategic Communications and Marketing on collateral materials and marketing to ensure branding standards.
- Coordinates efforts related to communication programs and publication efforts for the Department under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Chair. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Media/Public Relations, Communications, or appropriate degree and three (3) years of experience in a related field.
Departmental Requirements:
- Experience developing and executing social media campaign.
- Experience developing web content.
- Submit 3 published writing samples.
Desired Qualification:
- Editorial experience.
- Digital design experience
