Summary Job Description and Requirements:
CHW is looking for a student intern to support the Planning group through presentation graphics and plan production. We work in a collaborative atmosphere where teamwork and innovation are important. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Geomatics, or other related program at an accredited university. Additionally, applicants must have strong computer and hand graphic skills as well as proficiency in software programs relevant to the industry.  

Minimum skills for this position include:
  • Enrollment in a Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Geomatics, or other related program
  • Skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Software
  • AutoCAD experience not required but strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a part-time capacity, minimum 10 hours per week but no more than 30
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to meet task and project specific deadlines
  • Planning and business computer applications with working knowledge of the following software and skills: Environmental Systems Research Incorporated (ESRI) ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Bluebeam, and Adobe software

Summary of Duties / Responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
  • Provide assistance for specific project related tasks
  • Perform planning calculations to support applications such as, but not limited to, site distances, site areas, setbacks, population projections, impact analyses, concurrency reservations, etc.
  • Interact and communicate with the project team, agencies, and possibly clients
  • Prepare justification reports for application submittals
  • Attend meetings
  • Data collection and research to support applications and due diligence efforts
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as requested
