Upper School World Language Teacher- Latin

McDonogh School is seeking an energetic, intellectual, and caring individual to teach Upper School Latin. The optimal candidate is a teacher-coach capable of teaching introductory-level through Post-AP Latin-language learners.
 

Essential Functions


  • Inspire, engage, and encourage students in the study of Latin, creating a dynamic classroom with high expectations for both Latin language and culture and Roman historyWillingness to guide students in active and experiential language and cultural learning, including but not limited to, cooking, music and artExhibit a strong desire for continuing professional growth as a World Language educatorDemonstrate creativity in unit and daily planningFocus on growing students' language proficiency through reading comprehension and written comprehensibilityTeach diverse learners through varied instructional strategies and approachesOvertly support and act in accordance with the school's missionExhibit professional standards of presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretionExpress a clear interest in becoming an active member of the McDonogh and independent school community by participating in school activities inside and outside of the World Language DepartmentRespond to the needs of the School, including, but not limited to, the advisory program, coaching, assigned supervision, and other areas as determined by the Upper School Head
