Summer Education Intern
Art making and education is close to the heart of the institution, whose founders included artists with a teaching imperative. MMFA serves Montgomery’s students through tours, classroom instruction, and ongoing exhibitions of work by students. Our premier family arts event, the Flimp Festival, is held each spring in the sculpture garden. Other free offerings and exhibition-based programs for families and adults, including talks and creative activities, are offered throughout the year as well as paid studio classes and experiences for members of the Museum. Affinity groups include a thriving docent program and the Muses teen council. In addition, over half of the Museum’s visitors enjoy the Artworks interactive gallery each year.
Potential intern projects/past projects have included teaching in the Museum’s after school programs and art camps, leading talks, creating content for the cell phone audio tour, creating materials for the Museum’s AP art history course, and working to forge connections with specific audiences, such as the university community.
Applicants are required to submit a short writing sample, one page or more, with their materials, and if applicable digital images of 3-5 original works of art.
