Video Communications Specialist

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
Completion of two-year college program in video production or two years related on-the-job experience in a full-service studio, post-production facility or communications environment desired; a high school diploma or general education (GED) required; or any combination of experience and training that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills.
 
Knowledge of:
  • Modern automation solution for playback, web content development, channel scheduling and reporting
  • Apple and PC computer platforms
  • Adobe products including Media encoder, Photoshop, and Premiere. Experience with Avid is a plus, but not required
  • Microsoft Office
  • Social media platforms and how to create and post content, including videos, photos and web links
Skills in:
  • Interpersonal communications necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Prioritizing work assignments 
Ability to:
  • Maintain schedule of work and to perform under deadlines
  • Work in a digital-based environment for uploading content to One Drive, web, and servers
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries
  • Write short stories for print and video productions

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:This position provides support for Prince William County Schools Cable Channel. Duties include encoding new and existing programming onto broadcast servers (TRMS), maintaining a broadcast log/schedule, developing Bulletin Board templates using Carousel. Able to use ROSS Dashboard for routing our channel between Live School Board meetings, Carousel and programming for air. In addition, this position will produce, organize, shoot, and edit original content for social media, web and the broadcast channel.

7.5 hours/day
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:Include, but are not limited to, the following: 
 
  • Update and maintain broadcast schedule for the 24x7 PWCS-TV using Cablecast
 
  • Assimilate new programming into Cablecast video servers
 
  • Create bulletin board posts in Carousel using content from local and other sources
 
  • Basic knowledge of ROSS automation systems using Dash Board for switching live router for on air content, as well as live School Board meetings and Carousel functions
 
  • Assist in live broadcasts of assigned School Board meetings and occasional events outside of regular business hours using A/V, video cameras, video switcher, graphics generator and audio board
 
  • Produce, organize, shoot, and edit original content for social media, web and the broadcast channel
 
  • Complete other duties as assigned
SALARY:Hiring Range: $42,768 - $58,566/hour ($22.81 - $31.24/hour)
