Interior Design Manager

The key to great design is capturing the spirit of the client and the essence of the space. 

Our certificated and degreed Interior Design Managers use their skills, experience, and creativity to create a beautiful, functional space to suit their clients' needs. IDM's are the heart of Hudson's Furniture. 
What You'll Do:
  • Must be able to produce a level of sales required by management and Hudson’s policy by serving customers, selling products, and performing all duties required by a Design Associate.
  • Must be proficient in gathering information necessary to create and complete a project based on the customer’s needs, wants, and budget.
  • Must assist the sales staff in serving customers and closing sales.
  • Must partner with the Sales Associate. This requires the Design Associate to be able to adapt to the different levels of experience the Sales Associate possesses.
  • Must be able to design within the scope of the client’s taste, putting aside your own personal likes and dislikes.
  • Must assist in the training of Sales Design Consultants on the In-Home Design program.
  • Must assist the Sales Associates with special order SKUs.
  • The Design Associate becomes the special order expert and signs off on all special orders. The Design Associate will convert all special orders entered so they can be ordered from the factory.
  • Responsible for keeping the fabrics and catalogs up to date.
  • Responsible for the Design Area in the showroom, keeping it neat and clean.
  • May oversee the delivery of the furniture to the client’s house.
  • May fill in as a Designer at other Hudson’s store locations as needed.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, weeknights, and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and provide transportation to and from the customer’s home.
  • May assist in moving furniture around the showroom floor.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the home furnishings field
  • Previous selling experience strongly preferred
  • CAD training a plus
  • Experience in using floor and space planning applications
  • Knowledgeable of general principles of home decor and design (i.e., furniture, carpet, draperies, and color schemes.)
  • Excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build rapport
  • Ability to effectively manage time and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work effectively and productively with others as a team
  • Ability to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Initiative to meet assigned goals, missions, and objectives
  • Strong attention to detail
  Education and Experience:
  • A four year Interior Design degree from an accredited institution is required
  • The Design Associate must have broad knowledge as an Interior Designer. A minimum of four years’ experience required
  • Experience in-room planner and 3D preferred
