Outreach, Engagement & Communications Intern (FL)

Are you a bi-lingual (Spanish) Communications/Marketing/Business student with strong technology/social media skills who is creative, passionate, and results-driven? Our Outreach and Engagement & Communications teams are looking for you! Our Engagement team leads the work throughout the state of Florida for outreach to our members and their communities. 

Our Communications team supports the messaging of our Engagement and Advocacy work for the state. As an intern, you will apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to support the state staff’s important initiatives. 

You could find yourself assisting the teams with social media, website content, administrative support or coordinating, scheduling, and planning volunteer training. On any given day, you could be supporting virtual event logistics, video editing, writing content for a tweet, or a Save The Date notification; you could be responsible for capturing video content at an event. Each day brings a new and exciting opportunity to learn, grow and contribute.

This paid internship will be from the summer and through the fall. We’ll challenge you to think and work in new ways. We are committed to your growth and will cultivate your continued learning and development.
 
Responsibilities
On an average day, you will be:
Strategic
·   Participating in virtual meetings. Applying innovative thinking and problem-solving to outreach and communications challenges. Contribute to conversations around the planning and development of community engagement plans by researching demographics.
Analytical
·   Contribute to data analyses and write-up of findings. Create reports that reflect pre and post-event information. Research information as requested.
Creating Designs
·   Create visual presentations of evaluation processes and results. Conduct video editing. Assist with social media and website content. Manage logistics for virtual platforms.
 
Requirements
Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship.
AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program.
