
Electrical Design Engineer
Our Performance Sensing Global Business Unit is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to work in our electrical design team in our Attleboro, MA headquarters. The electrical engineering team supports sensor product development, pursuit of new business opportunities and product lifecycle management in the North America, Japan, and Korea regions for the Automotive and Heavy Vehicle Off-Road (HVOR) business units. These sensors are designed for automotive & HVOR applications and must meet customer requirements for performance, quality, and cost.
An Electrical Design Engineer at Sensata is responsible for electrical schematic design, product development/validation, and thorough documentation according to automotive development process (APQP) and industry safety standards (ISO26262 & OBDII). Tasks include electrical design and validation testing to ensure product performance throughout product life while exposed to harsh automotive environment such as extreme temperatures, EMC/EMI, and other electrical stresses.

Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (completed prior to start date)
- 0-3 years of industry experience
Job Requirements:
- BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or other electronics-based scientific degree

- Electrical design experience, specifically:
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer requirements into reliable electrical designs
- EDEs own the schematic design of circuits—electrical fundamentals (filters, amplifiers, diodes, passives circuits) are essential
- Product validation testing
- Concept--to-production lifecycle
- Familiarity with common product design methodologies (Six Sigma, DFMEA, etc.)
- Hands-on attitude with the ability to operate standard electrical test equipment
Job Responsibilities:
- Designing sensor interfaces and signal conditioning paradigms to meet customer requirements, especially designing for EMC/EMI & ESD robustness
- Execution of testing based upon various standard specifications (SAE, ISO, CE, UL, etc.)
- Strong project management and product development skills including
- Estimating timelines and understanding design activity dependencies
- Design to cost
- Driving on-time and on-budget product validation
- Communication and documentation of design elements for internal and external customers
- Electrical engineers at Sensata communicate directly with the end customer
- Support PCB design processes such as schematic & layout capture software, fabrication, assembly
- Use basic Engineering Software skills such as C/C++, Matlab, VBA, Labview for automation and data processing
- Travel Requirements:
- Occasional (<5% both domestic and international) to work with suppliers, customers, manufacturing sites, and other design sites.
