K-12 Music Teacher
Donna Klein Jewish Academy, an independent non-profit school for children grades Kindergarten through grade 12, is a Jewish community day school serving families from a broad spectrum of Jewish backgrounds and religious practices.  The school was founded in 1979 and lives its mission: To educate our children and the greater DKJA community to be knowledgeable and responsible citizens of the world, committed to Jewish values and lifelong learning.
The Department of the Arts is seeking a full-time music teacher to teach classes ranging from grades K-12. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience and a Bachelor or a Masters degree. In addition, as a Jewish school, we require a teacher who can teach songs in English and Hebrew and who could incorporate Israeli music into the curriculum.
 
This is an instructional position with responsibility for establishing a music program that includes singing, music appreciation, and history, learning how to play the keyboard, recorders, percussion instruments and bells. The candidate must be proficient at playing piano (for accompaniment.)
 
Our music teacher will be responsible for teaching our Kindergarten-8th grades weekly lessons and a high school choir elective, while also leading a middle school/high school after school choir twice weekly. 
 
The candidate will demonstrate an understanding and mastery of central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the music program, effectively transmitting knowledge , and making the subject matter meaningful to students. 
 
This candidate will work collaboratively as a member of the Arts  Department in all facets of the program at DKJA. The music teacher will assist our drama teacher with future musical productions. The teacher will establish an after-school choir club twice per week. The candidate will assist in planning, preparing, and presenting programs, field trips, events and festivals for the school.
