City Engineer / Civil Engineer III
The City Engineer/Civil Engineer III performs expert-level professional engineering work and acts as a technical advisor to the City Manager and/or appointed designee. This individual understands the procedures, practices, principles and terms of municipal civil engineering and applies them on a departmental and citywide basis. They plan multiple projects, manage project progress and identify and resolve the most complex and difficult problems associated with the highest potential impact upon the community.
Recent and ongoing projects include:
* Sanitary Sewer Improvements
* Annual Pavement Restoration
CITY ENGINEER:
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field from a university or college accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in civil engineering, with at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity. Masters degree preferred. Must be registered as a Professional Engineer by the State of Iowa or ability to obtain such licensure. No substitution for bachelor’s degree or professional certification. Starting Salary - $101,271.94
CIVIL ENGINEER III:
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field from a university or college accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). Must be registered as a Professional Engineer by the State of Iowa. Starting Salary - $87,471.87
Must possess a valid Iowa Driver’s License and meet the requirements of the City’s motor vehicle policy. Must be able to effectively communicate (orally in person and over the telephone and in writing using electronic devices and handwritten) in English with other employees, businesses and community members.
