Program Duration: October 4, 2021 - April 15, 2022
The Human Resources Intern will directly assist NPR’s Human Resources Division on a range of projects. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills acquired in school and apply them in a professional setting. They will gain a better understanding of the key operational role that Human Resources plays within our organization. In addition, the HR Intern will have opportunities to network with other interns across the organization and learn the fundamentals of a news organization.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with all departments within the HR Division
- Update and/or input accurate data, audit personnel files, and/or create reports and presentations as needed
- Partner with Talent Acquisition team members to assist in posting, sourcing, and interview logistics set up
- Assist in planning/facilitating employee training and events, communications, and market training and learning opportunities
- Variety of HR projects as assigned including but not limited to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Employee Resource Groups, independent research project, projects with impact enterprise wide.
WHO CAN APPLY?
- LOCATION: This internship will be fully remote. Must be planning to work from the United States throughout the fall/winter 2021 internship dates.
- EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must be a recent graduate or current student studying Human Resources, Labor/Employee Relations, or a related field
- Fundamental knowledge of HR practices and employment law
- Previous HR work experience preferred
- Demonstrated creativeness and a passion for learning
- Ability to work independently, call new internal and external contacts, establish relationships, and build partnerships
- Demonstration of ability to create communications, logos, newsletters, blog posts, training materials, and/or employee communications and announcements
- Proficient using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Slack applications
- Tech-savvy and/or very engaged with technology and social media
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a team environment and within deadlines
- Ability to handle more than one assignment at a time; ability to prioritize, anticipate and communicate effectively
SCHEDULE
- Preferred schedule is Weekdays/Daytime, but there is scheduling flexibility based on the needs of the selected candidate
- 25-30 hours per week, dependent on availability of selected candidate
