Architectural Model Maker
Scale Models, Arts, & Technologies, Inc. is seeking model makers with skills in architectural model assembly and finishing.
Several Full-time positions are available with the possibility of part time positions for the right applicant(s).
The positions offered are primarily to fabricate and assemble custom designed high-end scale models, displays, and exhibits. The primary materials will be acrylic and styrene.
Successful candidates will work on various “hands-on” aspects of our production and manufacturing needs. Willingness to learn additional skills is welcome.
All work will be performed onsite in our North Miami Beach facility. No Remote Work is available or planned.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Primary Specific Requirements and Skills
Successful candidates REQUIRE the following skills and experience:
- Precision assembly of components with various fasteners and adhesives
- Precision painting and detailing of delicate models and miniatures
- Safe usage of mechanical and powered shop tools and non-powered hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control in all aspects of tasks performed.
- Team Player
HIGHLY DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Preference will be given to candidates with the following “Most Desirable” additional skills and experience:
- Experience in Model Railroading, Scale Model building, Slot Car, Robotics, or RC hobbies.
- Preparation of, processing, and post processing of Laser cut and 3-D printed parts and components.
- Artistic free-form skills to create miniature landscaping and natural scenic elements
- Basic electronics knowledge with experience in low voltage circuits.
- Soldering skills
- Experience with precision machine tools (miniature lathe and milling machine)
- Ability to draw or express ideas visually.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical: Good manual dexterity, and general physical agility will be required to perform some tasks -ie: occasionally fit in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift various components, etc.
Travel: Occasional short-term travel requirements to install projects at client’s locations.
Fluency: English – written and spoken. Successful candidates must possess:
- The ability to clearly communicate ideas, questions, and instructions to other team members.
- The ability to read and comprehend technical documents in English.
Portfolio:
A photographic portfolio of work personally completed by the applicant is required for this position. This can be via website, physical media, or both.
