Database and Digital Communications Manager- Raiser's Edge

Position Summary
UHF is seeking a highly organized and forward-thinking database and digital communications professional to work closely with staff across the organization to manage and maintain the organization’s Raiser's Edge database of key contacts and to guide, execute, and collaborate on its digital communications. This individual will be responsible for the segmentation of the database to develop targeted email and mailing lists for UHF’s active publications program, which includes targeted reports, commentaries, and general interest newsletters as well as event promotion and occasional e-solicitations. The position requires formatting of emails and two event journals using desktop publishing templates and the management of their electronic dissemination. In addition, the individual will assist the communications team in updating the organization’s website as needed. We are looking for a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and project management skills who is eager to take on new challenges.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Raiser’s Edge database as used for routine and special interest communications and manages data operations, including data entry, maintenance of constituent demographic data, data queries, creating reports, mail merges, mass mailings, Excel imports and exports, and other data management assignments.
· Executes electronic communications using standard templates and prepares queries from Raiser’s Edge database. Tests outgoing electronic mailings before sending them to large groups. Prepares a statistics report following each email.
· Using desktop publishing and standard templates, formats two event journals annually and occasional collateral and promotional materials.
· Tracks the activity of UHF's websites and distributes monthly email reports through the use of Google Analytics. Prepares specific website statistics reports requested from staff.
· As needed, works with communications team to update content on the website using webpage templates, helps manage graphics on the website, and helps test new functionalities and sections of the website; works as needed with outside web development vendors who manage the technical aspects of UHF’s website.
· Recommends and helps implement "best practices" of database policies, procedures, list maintenance, and other functions. Writes and updates documentation of data entry and reporting protocols.
· Manages and audits list maintenance and development responsibilities assigned to specific staff across the organization. Provides various department leaders with lists to review and mark up with changes to be made by their respective administrative assistants in Raiser's Edge. As necessary, trains appropriate staff with respect to data entry and updating constituent records.
· Manages email "bounce-backs" and auto-replies (following mass emails). Conducts and directs research to correct email addresses and edits records in Raiser's Edge.
· Manages hard copy mail returns and updates records in Raiser's Edge.
· Maintains UHF web and informational email accounts pertaining to general information, donation transactions, and subscription requests for the purpose of allocation to the proper department.
· Assists in other activities of the organization related to database management and list development.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
· Three years of professional work experience involving relational data management in a not-for-profit setting.
· Bachelor's degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
· Proficient with Raiser’s Edge with knowledge of the Net Community component required.
· Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred.
· Knowledge of basic HTML preferred.
· Knowledge of, or the ability and flexibility to quickly learn, different website content management systems (e.g., WordPress or Django) strongly preferred.
· Willingness to learn new computer skills and platforms as necessary.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented.
· Strong project management skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Judgment, integrity, and the ability to listen with sensitivity to others.
· Teamwork and the ability to work collegially with staff.
