Senior Research Program Coordinator

The CAHMI seeks a Sr. Research Program Coordinator who will provide daily assistance to ensure the information gathering, synthesis and reporting of research data findings and logistical, administrative and communications tasks central to funded research and project grants are successfully completed. This will involve working with other CAHMI staff, contractors and partners to help implement qualitative, quantitative and communications research initiatives, and ensure overall smooth operations throughout the CAHMI. 
 
The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will be under the supervision of the Research Program Manager & Director of the Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative (CAHMI). The Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative (CAHMI) is a national initiative based out of the Department of Population, Family and Reproduction Health of the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Our mission is to promote the early and lifelong health of children, youth, families and communities by advancing family centered data, tools in research, policy and practice. We are seeking a highly skilled professional with a “start-up” mentality willing to assist in higher and lower level tasks, to the betterment of CAHMI as an organization. This person will be committed to helping the CAHMI stay on schedule and the advancement of coordinated research administrative and communications efforts to support an upward trajectory of success and impact to improve the well-being of children, youth, families and communities.
 
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and perform duties to implement and ensure the daily monitoring and response to the CAHMI’s technical assistance “inbox” and to document and identify issues related to the functionality and operation of CAHMI’s websites, including CAHMI’s National Data Resource Center for Child and Adolescent Health.
  • Assist in the deployment of routine social media, web-based and e-newsletter and outreach activities.
  • Perform tasks essential to the administration of research grants and project, including the tracking of deadlines and assist with the routine assessment and reporting on citations of CAHMI’s research, monitoring the use of CAHMI’s web-based resources and ensuring timely reporting to the CAHMI director and funders.
  • Assist with setting up and monitoring qualitative and quantitative research activities, including use of Qualtrics, RedCap, the formatting, dissemination, collection, analysis and synthesis of data using qualitative and quantitative research methods, helping with IRB submissions and ensuring data privacy and confidentiality.
  • Conduct environmental scans and literature reviews. Provide editorial assistance in developing reports and documents, including managing reference lists, proofreading for grammatical errors, document formatting and online submission of research abstracts and publications.
  •  Aid with development, formatting and submission of grant proposals and progress reports.
  • Assist with tasks essential to research and student staff hiring and onboarding, grant expense tracking and purchasing required software, supplies and other resources.
  • Assist in identifying and setting dates for meetings and webinars with external partners and advisory committees, development of meeting agendas, notetaking and reporting on meeting deliberations and ensuring the technical success of these meetings and webinars. 
  • Assist in the continued updating of the CAHMI’s maternal and child health online measurement compendium and online data queries and the strategic dissemination of these resources for use in the field
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining efficient electronic and paper filing systems and materials management system and assist with addressing any issues that arise to ensure office space is safe and functional.
  • Assist in the ongoing monitor and updating of the content of CAHMI websites and provide other editorial assistance on a range of CAHMI materials related to research and dissemination of its work.
  • Ensure CAHMI meets school/JHU and Department deadlines associated with the ongoing updating of CAHMI representation on websites and in newsletters and on online faculty and course description systems.
  • Provide teaching assistant support for yearly course, including uploading materials, ensuring smooth operations of online teaching scheduling and monitoring student completion of assignments.
  • Maintain the CAHMI research assistance related operations and procedures manual and train new CAHMI staff and students on essential protocols and procedures. 
  • Coordinate meeting logistics for any in-person meetings that CAHMI attends/hosts in various locations around the country by coordinating travel arrangements of meeting participants and hotel, meeting room, and catering logistics. Schedule complex project team and advisory committee meetings and events. 
 
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. 
  • Three years of related research assistance and coordination experience. 
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Highly communicative and passionate about improving the health of children, youth, families and communities.
  • Previous experience designing and implementing qualitative and/or survey research protocols
  • Familiarity with Institutional Review Board requirements, submission processes and HIPPA regulations
  • Experience working with primary care clinicians to improve the quality of care and implement new interventions
  • Knowledge of the programs and policies guiding the maternal and child health system nationally and in states 
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Ability to use SPSS, SAS or STATA statistical software to analyze data
  • Experience with social media, conducting webinars, website content management 
  • Grant writing and grant progress report development
  • Familiarity with the National Survey of Children’s Health
  • Familiarity with early childhood development 
  • Experience working with IT systems, software developers and database managers

  • Demonstrated ability to be an engaged team member who maintains a flexible, curious attitude, seeks feedback and strives to continually learn and improve and actively participates in meetings and day to day work.
  • Excellent time and stress management skills and the drive to collaborate and manage activities across multiple projects/tasks with conflicting deadlines. 
  • Demonstrable experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro. 
  • Ability to listen and take notes during meetings and report meeting discussion of issues and outcomes to participants in a way that informs and drives action and resolution of key issues.
 
Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Supervise 1-3 student interns 
 
Additional Information:
  • This position will include occasional extended work hours related to travel to conferences and meetings and meeting project and funder deadlines.
