Summer Intern 2022 - Banknote Issuance and Cash Ops - RBOPS

The Banknote Issuance and Cash Operations (BICO) Section supports the Board in meeting its statutory responsibilities under the Federal Reserve Act to issue notes, and oversees the Reserve Banks' provision of currency and coin to depository institutions. The program determines the new currency print order, plans and executes the issuance and shipments of new currency from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to the Reserve Banks and shipments of fit currency among the Reserve Bank offices, and develops and manages the annual new-currency budget. The program also assists the Board, the Cash Product Office, the Reserve Banks, and Treasury in the formulation of policy related to currency and coin. The BICO intern will work with District liaisons to gain an understanding of the Cash operations, analyze data and create dashboards to present such data, conduct research supporting initiatives, and participate and/shadow the oversight of Cash programs in the System. The intern will also have the opportunity to lead team meetings and attend skills development workshops. At the end of their internship, the BICO intern will have the latitude to create and present on a topic of their choosing. Typically, these presentations focus on an improvement project for BICO staff consideration.
