Intern - Environmental Engineering Intern (4120806)

Salary: $15.50 Hourly
Duration of Assignment: May 15, 2022 – August 15, 2022
Program: Water Protection Program
Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, and will be located at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri.
 
Why you’ll love this position:
You will be assisting the Water Protection Program review and evaluate wastewater projects to assure compliance with state regulations. You will learn about wastewater technologies, industry trends and advancements, and the many ways we work to improve water quality in Missouri and beyond.

What you’ll do:
  • Research new and innovative wastewater technologies for nutrient removal.
  • Evaluate different wastewater technology’s ammonia and nutrient removal performance.
  • Enter GIS data for projects to enable mapping capabilities of projects.
  • Compile and evaluate cost information for construction projects.
  • Compiling design criteria of existing facilities that utilize innovative technologies, and evaluate their performance.

Professional Experience to be Gained:
  • Understand the mission of the Department of Natural Resources.
  • Experience a broad range of wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Gain knowledge of the wastewater construction permitting process.
  • Gain knowledge of the NPDES permitting process.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineering Major
  • Excel
  • GIS experience
  • Have completed at least some introductory engineering classes
